Success Story
Jason Schmidt - My Concrete Dreams
Company: My Concrete Dreams
Location: Alexandria, Minnesota
Owner Operator: Jason Schmidt
Prior Vocation: Electrician, Firefighter
Seminar Class: April, 2008

Jason Schmidt left the Engrave-A-Crete seminar in April 2008 with a new trailer and a step by step plan to build his new business. Today he is on plan, optimistic about the future and having fun.

Within 90 days of starting his business Jason:

  • Created a new web site packed with pictures and information offering prospects a clear description of his new service.
  • Prepared all of his brochures and prospect mailing tools.
  • Signed up to exhibit at a local fair which immediately secured him 300 leads.
  • Connected with all his prior business contacts and friends to share the news about his new business.
  • Began a series of promotional direct mailings into targeted neighborhoods promoting his service.
  • Volunteered to do a high profile job at a local firehouse which gave him immediate exposure.
  • Began meetings with local architects to explain what he can do.
My Concrete Dreams is the name Jason chose for his new company. His web presence at www.myconcretedreams.com succinctly tells customers that he: “personalizes their concrete by transforming it to reflect the personality of the owner through staining, engraving and sandblasting.”

Jason proudly and consistently emphasizes that he “focuses on fulfilling customers dreams.” He carefully manages the prospect and customer experience in a disciplined way by:

  1. Connecting with each new referral or inquiry on the phone by the end of each business day.
  2. Emphasizing that prospects should visit My Concrete Dreams and the Engrave-A-Crete web sites to help them spawn ideas about their projects before his scheduled meeting for an estimate.
  3. Immediately meeting with prospects or mailing out a printed brochure. Jason emphasizes that “he wants to be first in response to create a good impression” as prospects are considering other options.
  4. Emphasizing his Engrave-A-Crete training and certification when meeting with prospects and closing the sale.
  5. Following up on prospect interviews with a detailed and professional proposal.
The discipline has paid off for Jason. He believes “the referrals and work are now continuous because of the reputation and image he has been able to create with his consistency and professional image”

When talking with Jason the enthusiasm about the future he exudes is contagious. He lists pending jobs and his future plans with excitement.

  1. A 15,000 square foot driveway where he will engrave a paver pattern and give his 2009 revenue goal a jump start.
  2. Expanding a specialty he has developed in engraving vertical concrete building signs. He explains free standing concrete building signs are popular in his area because of potential damage to traditional signs by snow plows.
  3. A pending bid for 30,000 square feet of work in a new Hockey Arena in his area.
  4. His plans in 2009 for:
  • enhancing his web presence with optimization tools
  • focusing on more inside flooring work
  • introducing concrete furniture into his business
  • sending his new assistant to Engrave-A-Crete for formal training

Jason Schmidt is excited. We at Engrave-A-Crete are excited for him and believe he is a true success story.
