Red Carpet in Decorative Concrete | Brooklyn, New York

Customers at a restaurant in the Bronx, NY, near Arthur Avenue receive solid Red Carpet treatment for about the final 15 steps before they are inside ready to enjoy dinner. The owner was reluctantly planning to use real carpet until he met Butchie Sapici, owner of Amberdonia and learned the potential of decorative concrete engraving. Butchie stained the concrete red with a charcoal/black border creating more than a carpet. There is a statement that doesn’t go away, but advertises the restaurant. No one can come to that neighborhood without hearing about the ‘magic’ red carpet that was created from ugly gray concrete.

The carpet’s beauty and utility are good marketing tools for the restaurant. Not only do customers get to walk on red carpet to the door where entry will continue their experience in the atmostphere of fine dining, but they get to do it safely. There are no small edges to roll up and trip the unsuspecting as there easily could be with ‘real’ carpet. The insurance company was pleased with the decision. A quick broom treatment keeps the carpet clean and bright. No mold or moss creeping under and over the carpet. No fading or wear and tear snags. This carpet will never have to be ripped out and hauled to the landfill to make room for a replacement.

With simple maintenance this red carpet will last for years, making an advertisment for the quality of Amberdonia’s work to everyone who simply walks by. With the charcoal borders and compass engraved into the concrete for extra appeal, this project has added a positive note to the neighborhood.
