Decorative Concrete Engraving in Odessa, TX
Harold & Kelly Christensen of Incredible-Crete Engravers in Odessa, TX offer the following story of how they helped a customer fix some ugly concrete.
Recently, Kelly and I received a call from 2 Engineers from Chevron Oil and Gas in Midland, Texas. They told Kelly that they had stained their driveway by their selves and the stain was coming off.
That peaked my interest as I didn’t understand what they meant by “stain coming off,” so I told them that I would stop by and see what was going on.
When I got there I immediately went out to the driveway which was in the rear of the house and, sure enough, you could see where the tires on their car would erase the stain every time they would stop too fast on the driveway.
The young couple were from Alaska, and Chevron had hired them right out of college and transferred them to Midland, Texas to start their careers with the company and get some experience under their belt before letting them return to the place they truly love which is Alaska.
Anyway, I looked at the young engineer and I asked him to go through the process that he used to apply the stain to his driveway. He told me that he had first acid washed the concrete to etch it to accept the stain and that he had cleaned it very good and then he stained it.
I know this guy is an engineer, when I looked him in the eye and said, “So when did you neutralize the acid?” He said, “Oh my God, I forgot that step.”
I explained to him that I thought that is what happened, and that I could fix it, no problem, which I did and it came clean very easily.
He wanted his back patio and sidewalk stained and engraved into Flagstones so we did the job and while I was down on his sidewalk engraving his Flagstones he told my wife that he finally liked his house in Midland which made me feel good because I knew that his heart and his love was Alaska.
As you can see from the before-and-after pictures above, the job turned out beautiful, and we are also doing his driveway this weekend.
I can’t begin tell you how happy this couple is and they have sent us so many jobs it’s unbelievable.
